Taliban Declare 250 Jeribs of Land in Mazar-e-Sharif State Property

DID Press: Taliban’s Ministry of Justice has announced that 250 jeribs of land in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, have been declared government property following a ruling by a special court dealing with land-grabbing cases.

In a statement published on its official account on X on Saturday, Oct. 10, the ministry said the land, known as the “Haji Abdul Baqi and Haji Ismail Farm,” had been declared state-owned following a review.

The ministry added that the process of reviewing, establishing ownership of and reclaiming land considered to have been seized illegally by the Taliban authorities was continuing across Afghanistan.

According to the ministry, the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing, provincial technical teams and special courts make decisions on land ownership after examining documents and information submitted by relevant Taliban administrations.

The ministry provided no further details about the land’s previous owners, the ownership documents reviewed or whether the former owners intended to challenge the decision.
