12 Killed, 309 Injured in Riyadh Airport Attack as Trump Weighs Joining Yemen Conflict

DID Press: A missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, killed 12 people and injured another 309, according to Saudi authorities. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington was considering joining Saudi Arabia’s military operations against Yemen’s Houthi movement, raising the prospect of a wider regional conflict.

Following the attack, emergency doctors were called in to treat the wounded at hospitals across Riyadh. At least five people were reported to be in intensive care, while some injured victims were transported to medical facilities by helicopter.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said airport operations were suspended on Saturday, October 10, while officials assessed the damage and inspected the safety of airport facilities. Several Western embassies also advised their citizens to stay away from the airport and surrounding areas.

Saudi authorities said the 12 people killed included four Saudi nationals and eight foreign nationals: two from Bangladesh and one each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.

A diplomatic source told Agence France-Presse that the missile had been launched by Yemen’s Houthi forces. However, early reports said the group had not claimed responsibility for this particular attack. The Saudi-led coalition condemned the strike and vowed a decisive response. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also condemned the attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Responding to the latest developments, Trump said the United States was considering joining Saudi military operations against the Houthis. His remarks came amid escalating attacks and growing concerns that direct U.S. involvement could widen the conflict across the region.
