North Korea Tests Cluster Warhead Capable of Striking 12–13 Hectares

DID Press: North Korea’s Missile Administration has conducted a test to assess the combat capability and destructive power of a cluster warhead designed for a ballistic missile, the country’s state media reported.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the test was intended to evaluate the warhead’s battlefield applicability and its effectiveness against targets.

The head of North Korea’s Missile Administration said cluster warheads, alongside four types of standard warheads, are classified as special-purpose warheads. He added that by the end of this year, the country’s military units are expected to have the ability to select and deploy all these warhead types according to the nature and characteristics of their targets.

According to the report, the test confirmed that the No. 2 standard cluster warhead is capable of striking an area covering 12 to 13 hectares.
