Taliban Envoy Says Several Countries Near Recognising Government

DID Press: Taliban’s ambassador to Moscow says several other countries are moving closer to recognising the group’s government following Russia’s decision to formally recognise it.

Gul Hassan Hassan said a number of countries are on the verge of recognising the Taliban administration after Russia took the step.

Pointing to growing interest among Central Asian countries, Russia and China in expanding relations with Afghanistan, he said Afghan officials had been invited to visit several countries.

The Taliban envoy also announced that a high-level Russian economic delegation is expected to visit Kabul soon. He said the visit would aim to expand economic cooperation between the two sides.
