Millions of Afghanistan Children on Brink of Death Due to Malnutrition, Warns UNICEF

DID Press: United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) issued a new report warning about the alarming state of child malnutrition in Afghanistan. According to the report, approximately 3.5 million children in Afghanistan are suffering from severe wasting due to malnutrition, with the lives of 1.4 million of them seriously at risk.

In response to the report, the Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban caretaker government announced that 2.9 million children and mothers suffering from malnutrition have been registered at medical centers, and health services are being provided in over 3,200 centers to address their needs.

UNICEF emphasized that the worsening health situation for children in Afghanistan requires an immediate response and broad support from the global community
