Pakistan Tightens Border Surveillance to Curb Militant Infiltration

DID Press: Pakistan rolled out a new security strategy in the tribal districts of Khyber and Bajaur aimed at blocking insurgent infiltration from Afghanistan, Dawn reported.

The winter-season plan focuses on enhanced border surveillance, dismantling militant hideouts, and cutting off financial, human, and logistical support for groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Officials noted that many armed groups retreat to border sanctuaries or Afghanistan territory between September and February to regroup for spring offensives. The strategy emphasizes intelligence-driven, low-casualty operations while maintaining local community support.

By reducing militant recruitment and exploiting insurgent vulnerabilities, Islamabad hopes to prevent rebuilding of terrorist networks along its Afghanistan frontier.
