3 Ex-Afghanistani MPs Clash in Tashkent after Allegedly Drinking

DID Press: 3 former members of Afghanistan’s parliament (MPs) were involved in a physical altercation at a well-known restaurant in Tashkent on September 16, following an alleged dispute over ethnicity after consuming alcohol.

A reliable source in capital Tashkent said the incident occurred at “Gi Naydin” restaurant and involved Ahmad Shah Ramazan, Abbas Ibrahimzada, and Asadullah Sharifi.

According to the source, the evening began amicably, but tensions escalated when ethnic issues between Hazara and Tajik communities were raised, leading to a fight that resulted in broken dishes and restaurant property damage.

As is customary, Uzbek authorities generally prohibit foreigners from engaging in political debates on their soil, and police are often called in. In this case, restaurant staff contacted police, but the three politicians had already left before security forces arrived.

The dinner was reportedly hosted by Kamal Nabizada, who later expressed regret to restaurant management and police.

As of publication, Uzbek security officials had not issued a formal response, though the restaurant confirmed it has filed an official complaint against three Afghanistani citizens.
