‘Tariff Board’ Law Officially Enacted by Taliban Leader

DID Press: Taliban caretaker government’s Ministry of Justice announced that the new “Tariff Board” law has been officially enacted following approval by the group’s leader and publication in official gazette.

According to a statement released on Thursday, September 25, the law consists of a preamble, three chapters, two sections, and 21 articles, aiming to regulate the country’s trade tariff system while taking economic conditions into account.

Under the law, the Tariff Board is responsible for setting and reviewing customs and seasonal tariffs. It also has the authority to make decisions on preferential tariffs, goods clearance procedures, import and export bans on certain items, and measures to counter dumping by foreign countries or companies.

In addition, the legislation details procedures for adjusting tariffs, rules on trade prohibitions, implementation of board resolutions, scope of authority, tariff-setting criteria, and the prioritization of customs duties.
