Gandapur: Islamabad Agrees to Proposal for Talks with Kabul

DID Press: Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, claimed that the federal government has agreed to his proposal to initiate dialogue with the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan.

According to an official statement from the provincial office, Gandapur made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the National Defense University’s Department of Security and War Studies at his residence in Peshawar. The discussions covered a wide range of provincial matters, including administrative and financial management, development projects, and the security situation.

Speaking on security issues, Gandapur said that instability in Afghanistan continues to affect law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Our armed forces, police, and people have made immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. We honor the martyrs who laid down their lives for peace,” he said. “To achieve a lasting solution, dialogue with Afghanistan is essential — and fortunately, the federal government has agreed to my proposal.”

On Afghanistan refugees, the CM said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has hosted Afghanistani refugees for decades, but repatriation remains a federal policy. He stressed that the process must be conducted with dignity.
