Hamas, Israel Hold Indirect Talks in Cairo Under Trump Plan
DID Press: As Israeli airstrikes on Gaza Strip ongoing, news sources reported the start of indirect talks between Hamas and Israel in Cairo, mediated by Egypt and overseen by the United States. The main focus of the negotiations is a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to Al Jazeera, the indirect negotiations between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel are scheduled for Sunday and Monday in the Egyptian capital. The talks, mediated by the Egyptian government and attended by American representatives, aim to discuss Trump’s proposed plan to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The White House announced that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, and Steve Witkoff, president’s senior Middle East negotiator, have been dispatched to Egypt as special envoys to closely monitor the talks.
Under Trump’s plan, an immediate ceasefire would be implemented if Hamas agrees to a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Hamas has previously expressed conditional approval for some elements of the plan, including the release of Israeli captives, but major disagreements remain over key issues such as the complete withdrawal of occupying forces, Gaza’s reconstruction, and the disarmament of the resistance movement.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has voiced hope that Israeli hostages will be freed “within days.” Despite this, the Israeli military continues to carry out large-scale airstrikes across multiple areas of Gaza Strip, killing and injuring dozens, according to reports. These attacks stand in direct contrast to Trump’s recent call for an immediate halt to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.
