Afghanistan National Resistance Council Welcomes UN Human Rights Resolution
DID Press: The Supreme National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan welcomed a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution addressing the human rights situation in Afghanistan, calling it a reflection of the “harsh and painful reality” faced by Afghanistan citizens under Taliban rule.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the council praised the UN resolution for condemning systematic discrimination, repression, and violence against women and girls, as well as highlighting forced displacement, ethnic and political persecution, and housing foreign militants in Afghan communities.
The council urged the international community to apply diplomatic and political pressure on the Taliban to end all forms of arbitrary detention, torture, inhumane punishments, and restrictions on education and employment for women and girls. It also called for practical measures to protect human rights defenders, journalists, artists, and civil society activists, both inside and outside Afghanistan, and for the establishment of an independent international mechanism to investigate and document crimes.
The council expressed appreciation for countries and organizations pursuing accountability for human rights violations in Afghanistan, particularly through the International Criminal Court and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. It emphasized that ending impunity and ensuring justice are prerequisites for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The statement concluded with a call for a free, fair, and humane future for Afghanistan, in which no individual is denied their rights because of gender, ethnicity, religion, or beliefs.
