UN Pledges $3.2M to Tackle Climate Change Impacts in Afghanistan
DID Press: As climate change increasingly affects the health and livelihoods of Afghanistan citizens, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a $3.2 million allocation to address these challenges in the country.

UNDP said that in collaboration with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, the funding will support projects aimed at mitigating the health impacts of climate change in Afghanistan.
The initiative will be implemented across 15 provinces, targeting more than 1.4 million vulnerable people.
The program’s main focus is to strengthen health systems to respond to climate-related threats, including the spread of communicable diseases, water scarcity, and heightened vulnerability of women and children.
According to the UN, the funding will not only enhance the capacity of the health system to better manage climate risks but also develop infrastructure that increases the resilience of local communities.
