Historic Sharm el-Sheikh Deal Ends Hamas-Israel War in Gaza
DID Press: In a landmark development in the Middle East peace process, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the signing of a comprehensive agreement between Israel and Hamas in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The accord, also endorsed by leaders of Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, officially marks the end of war in Gaza.

Speaking at an international summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Trump declared, “We are signing a comprehensive document of agreement between Israel and Hamas. I want to thank the State of Qatar for its tremendous efforts — the Emir is an extraordinary leader. The war is finally over. It took 3,000 years to reach this point, and it will continue. World War III will not begin in the Middle East — and we will make sure it doesn’t start anywhere.”
The document, co-signed by the presidents of Egypt and Turkey and the prime minister of Qatar, aims to end all hostilities, ensure the release of prisoners, begin reconstruction of Gaza, and launch political negotiations toward a two-state solution.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi described the accord as a defining moment, saying: “We are witnessing a historic and decisive moment. We hope this agreement closes a painful chapter in human history. The Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and freedom. In the coming days, we will work on the foundations of Gaza’s reconstruction and advocate for a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.”
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Arab reporters on the sidelines of the summit, “To stop the bloodshed in Gaza, all parties must be ready to make mutual concessions. The creation of a Palestinian state remains the key to a lasting and stable peace in the Middle East. The root of the conflict lies in the lack of progress on this issue.”
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, echoed this sentiment, saying that “no real change can occur and war will persist until a sovereign Palestinian state is established.”
Regional analysts have hailed the Sharm el-Sheikh Agreement as a turning point in Arab–U.S. relations and the beginning of a new chapter in the geopolitical order of the Middle East.
