Tashkent: Central Asian Stability Depends on Afghanistan
DID Press: 7th consultative summit of Central Asian leaders began Saturday in Tashkent, with heads of six regional countries in attendance. The main focus of the two-day meeting is to review developments in Afghanistan and explore ways to strengthen economic, political, and security cooperation across Central Asia.

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who first proposed these summits at the United Nations General Assembly in 2017, emphasized ahead of the meeting that sustainable peace in Central Asia is unattainable without addressing the situation in Afghanistan.
The summit agenda includes discussions on enhancing economic collaboration, developing joint infrastructure projects, coordinating on security matters, and evaluating major international developments.
Since Uzbekistan began chairing this regional initiative, over 20 major intergovernmental events have been held, reflecting Central Asian countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation and dialogue.
The consultative summit of Central Asian leaders will continue through Sunday.
