Taliban Minister Urges Families to Support Children’s Education
DID Press: Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid, Taliban’s Defense Minister, called on Afghan families to support their children’s education.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for a military educational center in Zheri district, Kandahar province, Mujahid emphasized the importance of combining religious studies with contemporary sciences, saying societal progress is impossible without education.
These remarks come despite the Taliban’s post-August 2021 restrictions, which have severely limited secondary and higher education for girls and women, including bans on attending universities, medical schools, and some religious institutions.
Human rights groups, citizens, and the international community have repeatedly called on the Taliban to lift these educational restrictions, highlighting the critical role of education in Afghanistan’s development.
