Practical steps needed to hold transparent election: Yamamoto

Joint press conference of Finance minister and secretary general’s Special Representative of the United Nations for Afghanistan was held at the Government Information and Media Center.
According to (DID) news agency report, Eklil Hakimi, finance minister vowed at the conference that the Afghan government is committed to combat corruption at all levels of the government, in light of its commitments made to donor countries at the last year’s summit in Brussels.
“The quality of education and the provision health services is one of the things, the government is doing its best to improve these services,” Mr Hakimi underlined at the meeting.
The secretary general’s Special Representative of the United Nations, Tadamichi Yamamato emphasized on the implementation of clear commitments made by the Afghan government at the Brussels summit.

He also stressed that the Afghan government should take practical steps towards transparent and fair elections based on the competency of individuals.
According to the statistics of international entities, the Afghan government is still at the top of the most corrupt governments in the world.
