EU Extends Economic Sanctions on Russia for Six More Months

DID Press: Council of the European Union has announced the extension of broad economic sanctions against Russia for an additional six months.

These sanctions, initially imposed in 2014 and significantly expanded following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, cover multiple sectors including trade, finance, energy, technology, transportation, and luxury goods.

According to the EU Council, the ban on Russian crude oil and certain petroleum products will remain in place, and several Russian banks will continue to be denied access to the SWIFT financial messaging system. The European Union considers these measures a key part of its strategy to maintain economic pressure on Moscow.
