Taliban Gov’t Signs $28.4M Power Supply Deal for 2 Jawzjan Districts

DID Press: Ministry of Water and Energy of the Taliban government signed a contract with a domestic company to supply electricity to the Qosh Tepa and Darzab districts of Jawzjan province, valued at over 1.8 billion Afghanis.

The signing ceremony took place today, Tuesday, with the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Economic Chief of the Taliban Cabinet, at the Government Information and Media Center.

The project, worth $28.4 million (over 1.8 billion Afghanis), was signed with the domestic company “State Corps.”

Once implemented, the project will transmit electricity from the center of Jawzjan over a distance of 85.4 kilometers, establish substations, and build distribution networks in the Qosh Tepa and Darzab districts, ensuring nearly all households in these districts have access to electricity.

A representative of State Corps described the project as important and vital, adding that it will be completed within three years.
