Russia Eyes Railway through Afghanistan to Expand Regional Trade
DID Press: Russia expressed interest in constructing a railway route through Afghanistan. Initial discussions already underway to implement the project.

Alexei Overchuk, Vice Prime Minister of Russia, said new transit corridors via Afghanistan will create greater opportunities to connect Russia with countries in the Global South and support regional transport and economic development.
Afghanistan can play a key role in expanding regional economic and transit linkages, he added.
The proposal is expected to strengthen regional cooperation between Russia, Afghanistan, and neighboring countries, creating new routes for both cargo and passenger transportation.
