DID Press: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the late Qassem Soleimani as a symbol of humble service and an unwavering supporter of the oppressed, speaking on the sixth anniversary of the commander’s Martyrdom. Soleimani, the former head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, was portrayed as detached from worldly interests, committed to justice, and a global model of selfless service.

Addressing a memorial ceremony, Pezeshkian said Soleimani and his companions embodied the qualities highlighted by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in his will: individuals not bound to material life, unshaken by loss, and consistently aligned with what they viewed as truth and justice.
Pezeshkian stressed that Soleimani opposed injustice and, whether inside Iran or abroad, rushed to support those he considered oppressed. According to the president, this approach reflected Khomeini’s teachings and was evident in Soleimani’s actions rather than rhetoric.
The president added that Soleimani was more than a military commander. He intervened wherever his presence was deemed necessary, working quietly and without seeking recognition, which, Pezeshkian said, turned him into a figure respected beyond Iran’s borders. He noted that memorial events for Soleimani were even held in parts of the United States after his death.
Pezeshkian also argued that Soleimani did not belong to any political faction and could not be claimed by any group. He said Soleimani followed the path of Iran’s leaders, obeyed the country’s supreme authority, and acted without personal gain in defending Iran and supporting Muslim nations.
