Herat’s Medicinal Plant Exports to US, UAE Triple in 9 Months

DID Press: Herat province has seen a threefold increase in medicinal plant exports to the United States and the United Arab Emirates during the first nine months of 1404 solar year, with approximately 22,000 tons valued at over $24 million shipped abroad.

Exports include barberry wood, black and green cumin, licorice, ginger, cinnamon, and thyme, mostly destined for US and UAE markets. Officials attribute the growth to sustained support for local farmers and traders and are implementing measures to ease exports and expand international market access.

The surge not only boosts Herat’s economy but also strengthens Afghanistan’s trade ties with regional and global partners.
