US Military Warns of Heavy Costs of Striking Iran

DID Press: Reports from US media indicate that internal assessments in Washington are marked by serious concern over any potential military action against Iran.

According to informed sources, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff warned the Trump administration in advisory sessions that military operations against Iran would carry “significant risks” and could draw the United States into a prolonged conflict. He reportedly stressed that the armed forces would implement any decision taken by the president.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal cited Pentagon officials as saying that proposed war plans against Iran — ranging from limited strikes to a multi-day air campaign — would entail heavy costs and casualties for U.S. forces and could strain ammunition stockpiles.

In a separate analysis, Financial Times wrote that continued U.S. force deployments in the region aimed at achieving “quick wins” could ultimately turn into a long-term setback for Donald Trump, and that military action alone is unlikely to deliver Washington’s objectives vis-à-vis Iran.

Following the publication of these reports, Trump rejected claims that the U.S. military opposes action against Iran as “incorrect,” insisting that the final decision on any military move rests with him.
