DID Press: Israeli journalist and political analyst Yoav Stern has warned that Benjamin Netanyahu’s re-election as prime minister of Israel could have far-reaching economic consequences, potentially leading to the country’s economic isolation and the imposition of Western sanctions.

Speaking to Israeli broadcaster i24NEWS, Stern said potential sanctions could extend beyond individuals and settlers accused of violence against Palestinians to major financial institutions, particularly Israeli banks.
According to Stern, Israeli banks risk facing financial restrictions because of their financing of illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories. He warned that such measures could have disastrous economic consequences for Israel.
The remarks come amid ongoing debate over the impact of Israeli policies on the country’s relations with its Western allies and the possibility of economic restrictions.
