Abu Dhabi’s Al-Taweelah Site Hit; Global Aluminum Production Disrupted

DID Press: Following Iranian missile and drone strikes on the Kizad industrial zone in Abu Dhabi, Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) reported that its Al-Taweelah industrial site, one of the world’s largest aluminum production facilities, suffered significant damage and has been taken offline. Several employees were injured in the attack, which occurred overnight, and damage assessments are ongoing.

Al-Taweelah, with an annual production capacity exceeding 2.5 million tons, supplied roughly 2% of global aluminum. Its products were exported to more than 50 countries, including the United States, European nations, Japan, and India. The shutdown of this facility could disrupt global supply chains, affecting the production of millions of vehicles, hundreds of thousands of tons of construction materials, packaging, and electronic equipment.

Economic estimates indicate that the annual value of the site is approximately $6 billion. An initial 2% reduction in global aluminum supply could push prices up by 4%, while in a worst-case scenario, the price increase could reach as much as 20%.
