DID Press: Yassamin Ansari, an Iranian-American Democratic member of United States House of Representatives, on Sunday (April 12) criticized the US War chief in a message posted on the X over the use of the term “Arabian Gulf.”

According to her statement, “The Persian Gulf has been recognized by international institutions under this name for centuries. Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth cannot change it now.”
Ansari also referred to her previous actions on the issue, noting that last summer—following statements by Donald Trump suggesting a possible renaming of the region—she introduced legislation titled the “Persian Gulf Act” to the House of Representatives.
The remarks came after Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of War, wrote on Saturday that two U.S. naval vessels had passed through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a broader mission to ensure the complete clearance of naval mines allegedly planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in what he referred to as the “Arabian Gulf.”
