Iran Warns of Using “Untapped Capabilities” if Naval Blockade Intensifies

DID Press: Mohsen Rezaei, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, has warned that Iran will deploy its “untapped capabilities” if pressure escalates and efforts are made to impose a naval blockade.

In a message posted on his personal account on the social media platform X, Rezaei wrote that the United States—just as it had failed in the past to open the Strait of Hormuz—would also be doomed to failure in any attempt to impose a maritime blockade on Iran.

Referring to recent positions taken by Donald Trump, Rezaei stressed that Iran is not a country that can be blockaded through “tweets” or what he described as “imaginary plans.”

The Iranian official did not provide further details regarding the nature of the “untapped capabilities,” but his remarks come at a time when tensions between Tehran and Washington have intensified following mutual threats and recent developments.

Experts note that the Strait of Hormuz, as one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes, has long been at the center of geopolitical competition, and any escalation in this region could have far-reaching consequences for global markets and regional security.
