UN Allocates $73.5M to Address Afghanistan’s Humanitarian Crises in 2025

DID Press: United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund allocated $73.5 million in 2025 to respond to sudden shocks and persistent humanitarian needs across Afghanistan.

According to a report released by OCHA on April 12, the funding was used to address emergency conditions and support vulnerable populations, particularly as the country continues to face multiple overlapping crises.

Based on the report, approximately 3.5 million people, including returnees as well as victims of earthquakes and drought, benefited from this assistance.

At the same time, OCHA warned that in 2026, nearly 22 million people in Afghanistan are expected to require humanitarian aid. To respond to this situation, the agency has requested $1.7 billion in funding—an amount reflecting the persistence of the country’s humanitarian emergency.

Afghanistan continues to confront challenges such as widespread poverty, economic instability, natural disasters, and limited resources, increasing the urgency for sustained international support.
