China Sets Up New County Near Afghanistan–Kashmir Border
DID Press: China established a new administrative county in Xinjiang, near the Afghanistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir border region.

According to official sources and regional media, the Chinese government announced the creation of a new county named “Senling” in Xinjiang, located close to the Afghanistan–Kashmir border area under Pakistani control.
The move is described as part of China’s broader policy to expand administrative structures and strengthen security governance in sensitive border regions.
The Xinjiang regional government stated that the newly established county of Senling is situated near the Karakoram mountain range and adjacent to Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor—a narrow and strategically significant strip connecting Afghanistan to China.
The county will be administered under Kashgar Prefecture, a historically important commercial and logistical hub along the ancient Silk Road.
Kashgar also serves as the starting point of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which passes through disputed Kashmir territories and has long been a focus of regional and international sensitivity.
