Gaza Death Toll Surpasses 72,000 as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

DID Press: The number of people killed in Gaza Strip has risen to more than 72,000 since the start of the conflict in October 2023, according to updated figures released by medical sources in the territory.

Health authorities reported that at least 72,344 people have been killed and 172,242 others injured since the beginning of hostilities, underscoring the масштаб of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

The data also show that despite a ceasefire announced on 11 October 2025, violence has not fully stopped. During this period alone, an additional 765 people were reportedly killed and more than 2,140 injured.

Local sources say many of the casualties resulted from intermittent strikes, limited clashes, and worsening humanitarian conditions, including severe shortages of medical supplies and treatment capacity.

International organizations have repeatedly warned about the deteriorating situation, citing widespread destruction of critical infrastructure such as hospitals, water systems, electricity networks, and urban facilities.

Medical shortages, fuel constraints, and damaged healthcare facilities have further strained hospital operations, with many institutions functioning far beyond capacity limits.

Doctors in the region caution that continued shortages and instability could lead to further increases in casualties in the coming weeks and months.
