Pakistan Claims Mortar Fire From Afghanistan Killed 3 Civilians
DID Press: Security sources in Pakistan have alleged that mortar shells fired from across the border in Afghanistan killed three civilians—including two children and a woman—in the Bajaur District region.

According to Pakistani media reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the village of Katkot, where three additional individuals were reportedly injured in the attack. Authorities claim the mortar rounds originated from Afghan territory.
Pakistani security officials blamed the Taliban administration for the incident, describing it as a “provocative and unjustified action.” They further alleged that Taliban forces had recently attempted to facilitate the infiltration of militants from the group known as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan into Pakistani territory, an effort they said was thwarted by the Pakistan Army.
Sources also claimed that following the failed infiltration attempt, Taliban forces targeted civilian areas along the border.
In response, the Pakistan Army reportedly conducted retaliatory strikes against the alleged launch site, destroying the position. Reports indicate that Taliban positions near Bajaur were targeted during the counter-operation, with significant casualties claimed on the opposing side.
The incident comes just days after China hosted talks on April 8 between Pakistan and Afghanistan, during which both sides agreed to avoid escalation of cross-border tensions.
