Spain Seeks Suspension of EU Cooperation Agreement with Israel

DID Press: Spain has announced that it will formally propose the suspension of the European Union’s cooperation agreement with Israel, according to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

The proposal is expected to be submitted to the European Union on Tuesday, (April 20), as reported by the state broadcaster RTVE.

Sánchez stated that any country violating international law and undermining the principles and values of the European Union cannot remain a partner of the bloc.

The move comes amid rising tensions between several European countries and Israel following recent regional developments.

So far, neither EU officials nor Israeli authorities have issued an official response to Spain’s proposal.
