First 5G Internet Trial Launched in Kabul
DID Press: Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has announced the launch of a pilot 5G internet service in Kabul, marking the first experimental deployment of next-generation connectivity in the country.

According to a statement from the ministry, the initiative involves the upgrade of 74 telecommunications antennas in the capital by the mobile operator Afghan Wireless.
Ministry spokesperson Enayatullah Alokozai said the project is being implemented on a trial basis, and after completion of testing and infrastructure preparation, the service will be expanded to other provinces.
He added that company head Alyullah Sarwari informed officials during a meeting with Communications Minister Hamdullah Noman that the upgraded antenna network in Kabul has been enabled for 5G testing.
The ministry described the initiative as a key step toward strengthening Afghanistan’s telecommunications infrastructure, emphasizing that connectivity is a critical sector in the modern era.
