Returning Afghan Migrants Fear Education Disruption for Their Children

DID Press: Families among Afghan migrants recently deported from Pakistan say that, alongside economic hardship and lack of shelter, their most urgent concern is the future education of their children after returning to Afghanistan.

With the ongoing deportation process, many returnee families report uncertainty over whether their children will be able to continue schooling. They emphasize that children should not be deprived of education due to forced displacement and are calling for adequate schooling facilities upon return.

Several families say their children had already completed parts of their education in Pakistan and now need structured programs to continue their studies without interruption in Afghanistan. They are urging authorities to establish well-equipped schools and provide targeted support for returning students.

One returnee, identified as Gulbadin, said his family is currently traveling toward Kunduz and later to Takhar, adding that despite severe difficulties and lack of proper housing, they remain determined to keep their children in school.

Children recently returned from Pakistan also expressed hope that they will be able to resume their education and called on authorities to ensure easy access to schools and uninterrupted learning opportunities.
