Taliban-Linked Media Figure Released After 13 Months in Prison

DID Press: Mohammad Mobeen, widely known as “General Mobeen,” has been released from prison after serving more than 13 months in detention under the Taliban government.

Mobeen announced his release in a post on X, saying he had returned home after spending over a year behind bars.

The Taliban-linked commentator had previously been sentenced by a Taliban military court to 18 months in prison over controversial remarks and criticism of the group’s policies shared on social media.

General Mobeen was also reportedly detained multiple times in the past because of his outspoken comments on the Taliban’s domestic and foreign policies, particularly his criticism of Pakistani officials.

His release has triggered widespread reactions online and renewed attention to internal tensions and sensitivities within circles close to the Taliban administration.
