Xabi Alonso Appointed New Chelsea Head Coach

DID Press: Chelsea Football Club has officially appointed Xabi Alonso as its new head coach. The Spanish manager has signed a four-year contract running until 2030 and will begin his tenure at Stamford Bridge on July 1, 2026.

The appointment is part of Chelsea’s broader rebuilding project following a turbulent, trophyless season in which the club underwent multiple managerial changes and fell out of the title race. Club management views Alonso as a long-term solution aimed at restoring stability and returning the team to the top level of European football.

Alonso arrives after a highly successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he led the team to an unbeaten Bundesliga title, and a brief experience with Real Madrid. He is widely regarded as one of the most promising young coaches in European football, with media outlets describing the move as one of the most significant managerial transfers of the new season.
