Majid Mortezaei Parts Ways With Afghanistan Futsal Team

DID Press: Majid Mortezaei has officially ended his tenure as head coach of Afghanistan’s national futsal team, the Afghanistan Football Federation announced.

The federation confirmed that negotiations over a contract extension failed to produce a final agreement, despite Mortezaei traveling to Kabul for talks with football officials.

A spokesperson for the federation said the process of selecting a new head coach is currently underway.

Afghan football authorities also held a ceremony to acknowledge and thank the Iranian coach for his work and contributions during recent years.

Under Mortezaei’s leadership, Afghanistan’s national futsal team delivered several strong performances in regional and international competitions, earning positive results and increasing the team’s profile in Asian futsal.

His departure marks the end of a notable period for Afghan futsal as the federation prepares for a new coaching phase ahead of upcoming tournaments.
