Taliban Pushes Drug Manufacturing Standards in Afghanistan
DID Press: Taliban officials have stressed the need to standardize Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical industry as the country prepares to host the second Abu Ali Sina Balkhi National and International Exhibition in Kabul.

During a meeting ahead of the four-day exhibition, senior Taliban officials described the growth of domestic pharmaceutical factories as a major achievement and called for higher-quality medicine production and improved industrial standards.
The Taliban administration also pledged continued support for the private sector, investors, and industrial producers, saying efforts are underway to expand the country’s pharmaceutical and medical industries.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said the Taliban’s economic strategy is not limited to domestic development but also aims to expand regional and international economic ties.
Meanwhile, Abdul Salam Hanafi urged pharmaceutical producers to prioritize quality standards and better address public healthcare needs.
Afghanistan’s public health minister also stated that the country is moving toward self-sufficiency in medicine production and called on Afghan specialists living abroad to contribute to strengthening the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
The second Abu Ali Sina Balkhi exhibition is expected to feature domestic and foreign companies and aims to showcase pharmaceutical industry potential, attract investment, and expand economic cooperation.
