Taliban Deputy PM Orders Accelerated Upgrade of Hairatan Border Crossing
DID Press: Abdul Ghani Baradar has called for round-the-clock operations and urgent administrative reforms during a visit to the strategic Hairatan Port, emphasizing the expansion of transit infrastructure and improved service delivery.

The Taliban’s economic affairs office said Baradar inspected multiple sections of the key trade gateway in Balkh and held discussions on improving 24-hour operations and addressing administrative bottlenecks.
During the meetings, challenges involving several government-linked institutions—including finance, industry and commerce, transport, public works, and state-owned enterprises—were reviewed, with authorities announcing that “necessary decisions” had been taken to resolve them.
According to the plan, the administrative capacity of border agencies at Hairatan will be expanded, alongside a series of infrastructure projects. These include the construction of standardized parking facilities, administrative buildings, cold storage units, advanced laboratories, expansion of rail-linked infrastructure, and installation of mobile scanning systems aimed at reducing smuggling.
Economic officials in Kabul said the measures are designed to strengthen Hairatan’s role as one of Afghanistan’s most important trade gateways and to streamline northern transit flows.
