DID Press: Iran has announced the suspension of its indirect negotiations with the United States, citing continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon and what it describes as violations of a ceasefire agreement.

According to statements attributed to sources close to the negotiating team, developments in Lebanon were a key component of the broader ceasefire framework, and the continuation of hostilities has rendered further talks “without purpose.”
The report says Tehran has made a halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, along with a complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory, a prerequisite for any resumption of diplomatic exchanges.
At the same time, media outlets linked to the so-called “Axis of Resistance” have reported discussions of potential retaliatory measures, including possible disruption of maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb, aimed at increasing pressure on Israel and its allies.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump said that following a phone call with Benjamin Netanyahu, he received assurances that no Israeli forces would be sent into Beirut and that units already moving toward the area had been recalled. Trump also claimed that contacts with representatives of Hezbollah had helped secure a “full ceasefire” arrangement.
A report by Axios further suggested that concerns over Iran’s possible withdrawal from negotiations were a significant factor behind efforts to prevent a large-scale Israeli operation in Beirut, in order to preserve prospects for a broader diplomatic understanding.
