Taliban: Relations with Islamic Countries a Key Foreign Policy Priority

DID Press: Taliban’s representative in Doha has said that strengthening relations with Islamic countries—particularly those in the Gulf region—remains a key pillar of the group’s foreign policy strategy.

Suhail Shaheen stated that expanding and maintaining ties with Muslim-majority countries is among the Taliban administration’s top diplomatic priorities.

He said the Taliban is seeking to deepen cooperation with Islamic nations across political, economic, and diplomatic sectors as part of its broader regional and international engagement efforts.

Shaheen also highlighted what he described as positive relations with Gulf states, noting that these ties have continued to develop in recent years.

According to him, Afghan diplomats are currently active in several Gulf countries, reflecting the level of engagement and communication between the parties.

The Taliban representative emphasized that the administration seeks to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Islamic countries and make greater use of shared opportunities to strengthen mutual relations.
