DID Press: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran has strongly condemned overnight US military strikes, describing them as a “blatant violation” of a ceasefire agreement and the Charter of the United Nations, and warning that Washington will bear responsibility for the consequences.

In an official statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the reported large-scale U.S. attacks on Iranian territory constituted a direct breach of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and effectively rendered the ceasefire agreement of 8 April 2026 meaningless.
The ministry further warned that the use of regional territory and infrastructure by the United States to conduct military operations against Iran could implicate those countries in the escalation, calling on regional governments to prevent their territories from being used for such actions.
It stressed that continued use of regional facilities for what it described as “aggressive operations” would make those states complicit in the conflict, while reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defense and its intention to respond to any further attacks.
The statement also called on all United Nations member states to oppose what it described as violations of the UN Charter by the United States and Israel, warning that silence in the face of such actions could contribute to wider instability.
Finally, Tehran urged the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General to fulfill their legal responsibilities, criticizing what it called vague or insufficient responses to clear acts of aggression, and arguing that inaction could encourage further violations of international law.
