Afghanistan Issues Flood Warning for 10 Provinces Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

DID Press: Afghanistan’s meteorological authorities have warned of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible flash floods across 10 provinces on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Meteorology Department of the Taliban-run Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, relatively heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is forecast for Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Faryab, Bamyan, Khost, Nangarhar, and Paktika.

Rainfall levels are expected to range between 10 mm and 25 mm in different parts of the affected provinces, raising the risk of localized flooding and flash floods.

The weather agency also warned of strong winds and dust storms across central, eastern, southeastern, southern, western, and northern regions of the country. Wind speeds are forecast to reach between 50 km/h and 90 km/h in some areas.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable regions to take precautionary measures and remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.
