Russia Says It Repelled Largest Ukrainian Drone Attack Since War Began

DID Press: Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 660 Ukrainian suicide drones in a single night, describing it as the largest drone attack launched by Kyiv since the start of the war.

According to the ministry, the massive wave of drones was detected and neutralized across multiple regions, with officials stating that the scale of the attack sets a new record in the ongoing conflict.

The ministry added that previous records included 556 drones intercepted in mid-May and 555 drones earlier this month, highlighting what it described as a steady escalation in unmanned aerial operations.

Russian media outlets, including RT (Russia Today), reported that Ukraine has intensified long-range strikes targeting Russian energy infrastructure as part of its broader war strategy.

Ukrainian officials, meanwhile, say such operations aim to increase the economic cost of the war for Moscow and pressure Russia toward accepting a ceasefire along current front lines.

In response, Russian authorities stated that the attacks will not alter Moscow’s strategic objectives and warned that continued escalation could lead to retaliatory measures against Ukrainian military logistics infrastructure located in NATO member states.

Both sides are also reportedly accelerating development of low-cost interceptor systems and air defense technologies to counter increasingly frequent drone warfare.
