Haqqani: Afghans Still Face Serious Barriers to Healthcare Access
DID Press: Sirajuddin Haqqani, the interior minister of the Taliban-led administration, has said that people in Afghanistan continue to face significant challenges in accessing healthcare services, stressing the need for stronger international support.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Haqqani made the remarks during a meeting with Hanan Balkhy, in which both sides discussed the expansion of health services, polio vaccination programs, and cooperation with international organizations including UNICEF and the King Salman Foundation.
Haqqani said that years of insecurity have been one of the main factors limiting the expansion of healthcare infrastructure and access to medical services across the country.
He emphasized the need for increased involvement of international organizations to strengthen Afghanistan’s health system and address existing gaps in service delivery.
The ministry added that enhanced cooperation could help reduce shortages in healthcare services, vaccination coverage, and public access to medical facilities.
