Afghanistan Launches Second-Largest Cement Plant
DID Press: Construction has officially begun on Afghanistan’s second-largest cement plant in the Jabal al-Siraj area, with senior officials from the Taliban administration attending the groundbreaking ceremony.

The new facility is expected to produce 5,000 metric tons of cement per day, making it one of the country’s largest industrial projects. Once operational, it is expected to supply a significant share of Afghanistan’s domestic cement demand.
According to Taliban officials, the plant will manufacture cement that meets international standards, helping reduce the country’s reliance on imported cement.
The administration described the project as an important step toward industrial development, economic growth, job creation, and greater economic self-sufficiency.
Officials also announced that, with all nine cement factories operating across Afghanistan, the country’s total daily cement production capacity is expected to reach 30,000 metric tons.
