Kazakhstan to Import Metallurgical Raw Materials From Afghanistan

DID Press: Kazakhstan will begin importing metallurgical raw materials from Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan to ensure a stable supply for its metal production industry, according to Yersayin Nagaspayev, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction.

Nagaspayev said the move is aimed at securing a reliable flow of raw materials for the country’s metallurgical plants as the government works to strengthen industrial production and support long-term manufacturing growth.

According to the minister, Kazakhstan’s metallurgical sector reached 97.3% of its production target during the first six months of the year, marking a 1.8% improvement compared with the first five months. He attributed the increase to government measures designed to guarantee a steady supply of raw materials for metallurgical enterprises.

Nagaspayev also said Kazakhstan’s manufacturing sector expanded by 9.8% in the first half of the year, driven by higher output in machinery manufacturing, the chemical industry, construction materials, rubber and plastic products, light industry, and other manufacturing sectors.

He added that the growth was primarily fueled by the launch of new production facilities across multiple industrial sectors.
