Fuel Prices Surge Across Herat Amid Rising Energy Costs
DID Press: Fuel prices have risen sharply across Afghanistan’s western province of Herat, with the cost of petrol, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) climbing simultaneously, raising concerns among residents and transport operators over continued inflation.

According to local market reports, fuel prices in Herat have increased again in recent days. The latest market rates show Russian petrol selling for AFN 86 per litre, Iranian petrol at AFN 81 per litre, diesel at AFN 75 per litre, and LPG at AFN 82 per kilogram.
Fuel traders attributed the price increases to fluctuations in fuel imports and higher transportation costs. However, motorists and residents argue that inadequate market oversight has contributed to repeated price hikes.
The latest increases follow weeks of upward pressure on energy prices in Herat, adding to the financial burden on households and businesses already facing rising living costs.
