DID Press: China has imposed sanctions on six US organizations in response to recent American restrictions targeting Chinese companies over allegations of forced labor, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced.
According to the ministry, the sanctions apply to Applied DNA Sciences, Stratum Reservoir, Altana Technologies, the Responsible Business Alliance, Verité Group, and the Human Rights in China organization. Beijing said all transactions and cooperation with these entities are prohibited under the new measures.
The ministry described the US sanctions on Chinese companies over alleged forced labor as a violation of international law, interference in China’s internal affairs, and an infringement on the country’s sovereignty, security, and development interests. It said the sanctioned organizations had played a role in implementing US restrictions related to China’s Xinjiang region.
The move follows a US decision last week to ban imports from 43 additional Chinese companies operating in the mining, agriculture, transportation, metals, and seafood-processing sectors over human rights concerns in Xinjiang.
