Kabul, Tehran Discuss Expanding Trade and Easing Visa Procedures

DID Press: Afghanistan and Iran have discussed expanding economic cooperation, increasing bilateral trade, and addressing transit challenges during a meeting between Iranian diplomatic officials and the governor of Herat province.

Iran’s Deputy Ambassador to Kabul, Seyed Hassan Mortazavi, accompanied by Iran’s consul general in Herat, met with Noor Ahmad Islamjar, Governor of Herat, to discuss strengthening economic ties, boosting commercial exchanges, and resolving transportation issues along border routes.

During the meeting, Islamjar emphasized the need to simplify visa issuance procedures for Afghan citizens and increase trade activities through the Islam Qala border crossing. He also called for solutions to transportation challenges at the Dogharoun and Islam Qala crossings.

The Iranian deputy ambassador, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral coordination and said efforts were underway to facilitate visa processes and address existing obstacles in trade and transit cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran.
