Greenwich and Kent Merge to Create UK’s First ‘Super University’

DID Press: Two British universities—University of Greenwich in London and University of Kent in southeast England—have announced the completion of their merger, forming a new institution known as the London and South East University Group (LASE).

The newly established group is being described by university officials as the United Kingdom’s first “super university”, bringing together the academic strengths, research capacity and educational resources of both institutions under a single organizational framework.

According to the universities, the merger aims to enhance teaching excellence, expand research capabilities, strengthen international competitiveness and increase opportunities for students across the UK and overseas.

The creation of LASE marks a significant development in British higher education, reflecting a growing trend toward institutional collaboration to improve efficiency, boost innovation and reinforce global academic standing.
